Edited by 100 members of the Good Companion Chess Problem Club of Philadelphia. A C White's Christmas series number 22 with the Christmas greetings tipped in. From the library of Kenneth Howard. (Betts: 33-58). First edition. Also issued as number 7 in the "Publication fund" series of the Good Companion Chess Problem Club. Contains introductory notes on the man and his compositions by A C White and Otto Wurzburg respectively, 100 of Meredith's problems (2 and 3 movers) each annotated by a different problemist, and a final note on "Meredith and the White King", by George Hume. Includes portrait photographs of some of the annotators. Kenneth Samuel Howard (1882-1972) one of the founders of the Marshall Chess Club and chess problem composer. He wrote several books about chess composition: The enjoyment of chess problems (1943), How to solve chess problems (1945), and One hundred years of the American two-move chess problem; a collection of 212 compositions by United States problemists (1962). Condition: A C White's label and Kenneth Howard's signature and date to front paste-down. Corners, spine ends bumped and rubbed with some fraying to spine ends, light rippling to cover else about very good copy.
