Beautiful factory engraved High Relief Winchester 1866 Ulrich signed. Made in 1872. Absolutely beautiful Winchester high relief 1866. Barrel is 24” long, and has a brown patina with light pitting. Frame is elaborately engraved in high relief with tight deluxe scrolls. Left-hand side has two panels with two deer and right-hand side has two panels with an elk and deer. Wood is good. Forearm is original to gun. Butt stock is well made period replacement. This is not uncommon, fifteen out of twenty known high relief guns in existence have replacement butt stocks. This is due to Winchester using the finest wood which broke easily. Gun is signed by John Ulrich (one of Winchester best engravers and would only sign his finest work).
