John Watson [pseudonym Ian Maclaren, 1850-1907] was a Scottish Presbyterian clergyman in Liverpool [1880-1905] and author who won fame with BESIDE THE BONNIE BRIER BUSH (1894), which was followed by other portrayals of humble Scottish life. He was a member of the kallyard school and wrote several religious works as well.
