Om föremålet

In 1870, the last variations of Allen patent carbines were produced made from leftover Civil War Springfields and newly made parts. Only 341 of these carbines were manufactured. The features of this model are that there is no serial number, the high arch breech block is marked with the "1870 / (eagle head) / (crossed arrows) / US". The Civil War lockplate is dated "1864" at the rear with the eagle and shield motif, "U.S. SPRINGFIELD" is ahead of the hammer. It has a folding ladder rear sight graduated to 900 yards, the correct two-click tumbler, and the two piece trigger guard. The thin long wrist stock has a saddle ring bar with ring mounted on the left flat but the cartouche is no longer visible. It has the correct US marked buttplate without any trapdoor. CONDITION: All metal surfaces are basically clean gun metal patina with age spotting. Trigger guard has been cleaned. There is an expertly repaired wrist crack that blends well. The bore has sharp lands and grooves with just some minor residue. These carbines have such a low survival rate that they are seldom seen offered for sale.Name Value Accessories Barrel Length 22" Caliber/Bore .50-70 Government Drop at Comb Drop at Heel FFL Status Antique Length of Pull Manufacturer Springfield Model 1870 Paperwork Serial Number NSN, Name, Value, Accessories, Barrel Length, 22", Caliber/Bore, .50-70 Government, Drop at Comb, Drop at Heel, FFL Status, Antique, Length of Pull, Manufacturer, Springfield, Model, 1870, Paperwork, Serial Number, NSN
