Addressed to the French mineralogist François Pierre Nicolas Gillet de Laumont (1747-1834), who in 1784 was appointed inspector of mines, Delamétherie writes in support of Laumont's arduous journey and informs him that his previous letter never arrived and thus knows nothing of Laumont's travels and impressions, but knows that Laumont will fill him in with all the details.
