Finely bound example of this biographical study celebrating the life and work of the most prominent silversmith of the nineteenth century. Quarto, bound in full morocco by Asprey with gilt titles and elaborate gilt tooling to the spine in six compartments within raised gilt bands, gilt central motif of a Storr urn to the front panel within triple gilt ruling, gilt turn-ins and inner dentelles, marbled endpapers. Illustrated with over 80 plates including frontispiece portrait of Storr. In fine condition. England's most celebrated silversmith during the first half of the nineteenth century, Paul Storr's magnificent sculptural pieces historically and currently adorn several royal palaces and stately homes throughout Europe and the world. Storr quickly became the most prominent silversmith of the nineteenth century, producing much of the silver purchased by King George III and King George IV. His lasting legacy rests on his mastery of the grandiose neo-Classical style developed in the Regency period.
