132pp, unpaginated, 70 color illustrations. No dust jacket, leatherette binding with illustrated covers, as issued. Titles on spine in black. Binding is clean and shows minimal wear aside from minor shelfwear to lower spine end. Comes in slipcase with same image(s) as the cover, and gold borders rather than the white of the book cover. Some shelf wear to slipcase - rubbing to bottom fore-edges, bump to closed end of slipcase, chips to front fore-edge of open end of slipcase, and a crease at the upper corner of the closed end of the slipcase. The colors of the slipcase image are vivid nonetheless. Contents of book itself are clean and unmarked, the paper is bright and the photos are clear and crisp. This copy is signed from Max to famed bandleader Lionel Hampton. The inscription reads, "For Lionel with much love and respect, Peter Max 1/1/80." Max also added a quick sketch of a woman's face and what appears to be a sailboat. Signature and inscription are visible through the page, on the blank back side. Max was a cultural phenomenon from the late 1960s onward, with his vivid coloration and the bright tone of his work. Volume includes paintings, drawings, seriographs, and collages record Max's impressions of the qualities and features of each of the fifty states. Size: 8.5" x 11"
