.  Various sizes, [Paris]; n.d., [circa 1918-1923]. One letter in French is an autograph signed note, "," (or bottom portion of a larger letter) to the French painter Irène Lagut [Marie-Reine Onésime Lagut (1893-1994)]; the other ALS in French, "" is addressed to the French artist and writer Valentine Hugo (1887-1968) and her husband, Jean. The poems are entitled " ()," "" "...," and "," which became the opening of  which Radiguet called "" a monumental work in verse by Victor Hugo widely regarded as a masterpiece. All poems save for "..." appear in print in the album of print and manuscript poems in this auction (Lot 45110). "..." was later published, with an additional stanza and other alterations, under the title "L'École du soir". Letters come with one mailing envelope. These are from the collection of Valentine Hugo, who has laid them in a small notebook, with her later commentary on the pages near the various items.Raymond Radiguet (1903-1923) was a French novelist and poet whose two novels -  [The Devil in the Flesh], published in 1923, and  [Count d'Orgel's Ball], published posthumously in 1924 - were noted for their explicit themes, and unique style and tone. He died in Paris at the age of 20 from tuberculosis.Condition: Some edge wear, toning, some occasional creases; overall good.HID07601242017
