Brief notice printed in the New York Evening Post for Saturday, February 2, 1861. Entire issue present. Large tabloid, 4 pages. Article on page 3 announces the seizure of the New Orleans Mint, with a small headline. Folded, and separated at spine. Very good. An interesting memento of one of the more dramatic moments in the history of the U.S. Mints. THE NEW ORLEANS MINT SEIZED, announces the headline. The printed notice, datelined February 1, states that "The Mint and Custom-House were quietly taken yesterday. To-day the officials took the oath, under the ordinance of the Secession Convention.".
