A big, (6 x 9 in., 296 pages) gorgeous book in wonderful condition. Beautiful endpapers and jacket, four spectacular full-page color plates and 16 superb b&w drawings by Armstrong Sperry who, along with Holling C. Holling is one of my favorite illustrators. Book is a sensitive and complimentary account of the Iriquois Confederacy which presents the " American Indian not as a remote creature from a distant past, but as a human being" and points out that the social and political organization of Native American peoples was equal to any civilization past or present. A lovely book that you will be proud to own. Rare, and this one is really nice.
