El ingenioso hidalgo Don Quixote de la Mancha. Madrid: Juan de la Cuesta for Francisco de Robles, 1608\nThe third madrid edition of part one of Don Quixote (part two was not published until 1615). On its first publication in 1605, Don Quixote was an immediate success, resulting in the proliferation of editions by various publishers, as the original publisher failed to register the copyright outside his native Castile. The present copy is the seventh edition to appear within three years and is generally considered to have been revised by Cervantes himself, and is therefore of great textual importance. A facsimile of this edition was published in Barcelona in 1897.
