1787 Machin's Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 18-87C, W-7930. Rarity-4. GEORGIVS

1787 Machin's Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 18-87C, W-7930. Rarity-4. GEORGIVS III, Group III. EF-40 (PCGS). Deep golden-brown overall with highlights of olive-gray that are more prominent in the protected areas around many of the design elements. Surfaces are hard and frosty, there is some nice gloss, and apart from a few faint handling marks at the left and upper reverse peripheries both sides are impressively smooth and generally mark-free. There is little to no denticulation at right obverse and reverse, but off-centering is minimal, all major design elements bold and fully appreciable. An above average example of this important variety, which employs a robust reverse die that was married to six different George III obverse dies in addition to a Vermont obverse to make RR-13. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. PCGS# 469. NGC ID: 2B47. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
