1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 60-p, W-5340. Rarity-4. Sprig Above

1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 60-p, W-5340. Rarity-4. Sprig Above Plow, PLURIBS. Large Planchet. EF-40 (PCGS). SHI DS1. Nicely centered on a broad planchet with full set of denticles on the obverse, reverse trivially off center to 6:30 with no denticles below the shield. There is a bit of natural planchet roughness in the centers, which are also a bit lightly struck, but otherwise this piece is well struck with the design elements bold. Deep olive-copper brown with no sizeable marks and some nice gloss. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. Earlier from our (Stack's) sale of the Gilbert Steinberg Collection, October 1989, lot 143. PCGS# 512. NGC ID: 2B4R. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
