1854 Liberty Seated Half Dime. Arrows. MS-66 (PCGS). CAC.

1854 Liberty Seated Half Dime. Arrows. MS-66 (PCGS). CAC. A lovely and conditionally rare example with lightly speckled olive-russet patina to a base of golden-gray, the former color finding greatest expression at the borders. The strike is impressively sharp for the type, and the surfaces are uncommonly smooth to allow full appreciation of softly frosted luster. The Arrows Liberty Seated half dime was produced for only three years from 1853 to 1855, the design change intended to mark the reduction in weight for this denomination from 1.34 grams to 1.24 grams as mandated by the Act of February 21, 1853. Premium quality Gems such as that offered here are rare and eagerly sought for inclusion in the finest type sets. Impressive numismatic provenance! Provenance: Ex Bob R. Simpson Collection; Heritage's sale of the Bender Family Collection, Part IV, May 2023 CSNS Signature Auction, lot 3724. PCGS Population: 14; 4 finer (MS-67+ finest). CAC Stickered Population: 5; 2. PCGS# 4358. NGC ID: 2342. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
