Obv: Eastman Johnson's "holey" cent design, the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA above and the date 1884 below a hand-cut perforation. Rev: The denomination ONE CENT above and an inverted shield flanked by two laurel sprigs below the perforation. Nicely reflective fields supports satiny, smartly impressed motifs. Exquisite Ultra Gem-quality surfaces are dusted with golden-apricot iridescence that deepens toward the borders. Approximately two dozen examples are known for the scarce Judd-1721 type struck in nickel, and this is one of the absolute finest available to today's discerning numismatists.
