1940 Joe McCarthy New York Yankees Manager's contract

1940 Joe McCarthy New York Yankees Manager's contract. Rare Managerial contract is one of only a few we have seen offered with further note to its' having been issued to a Hall of Fame caliber executive of such stature. McCarthy was in the midst of an impressive run with the Yankees which stretched from 1931 until 1946 and he would lead the team to (8) American League pennants and (7) World Series titles. Dated April 2, 1940 and signed inside "Joseph V. McCarthy" beside team President Ed Barrow. Commissioner William Harridge appears on the back and all are done in fountain pen rating 8 to 9 out of 10. Typical mailing folds and some other mild handling and storage wear. Interestingly McCarthy's salary is noted as "$1.00 and other considerations." Includes auction LOA from JSA: Sigs.
