Bought from the private cellar of a Riojan retired wine distributor in June 2012. Stored in private cellar up to today. Excellent storage condition. 94/100 Robert Parker: "The 1978 Gran Reserva 904 displays a bouquet of rose petals, dried fruits and herbs, and Asian spices. Savory on the palate with notes of balsamic, it still has superb depth and concentration and impeccable balance. It shows no signs of old age and should drink well for another 10-15 years". This is a wine to cellar for years! Fully mature and therefore drinking well now, or cellar for next 20-25 years. One of the best vintages in La Rioja Alta winery. Vintage 1978 was rated "Excellent" by the oenologists of La Rioja Alta Estate. The owners decided to vinify the best brands (890 Grva, 904 Grva) and launched some new limited-edition: Rioja Alta "Plantación 1978" Reserva Especial. Vinified and matured in wooden vat, from the founding time of the winery (1890), and then aged in cask for 7 years. Racked 12 times, once every 6 months, using the traditional cask-to-cask Riojan method. Bottled directly from the barrel in 1987. *** All international parcels are shipped to the highest professional standards via premium UPS International Express, the courier’s fastest signature-required service. Each shipment is prepared in a specialist wine box officially certified by UPS / DHL, with every bottle packed individually and protected in three layers of bubble wrap.
