2004 Les Vins de Vienne

Taburnum, Sotanum, Heluicum: these three wines were already celebrated in their day by Pliny the Elder. In an 18th-century work, we read that “The Vins de Vienne are harvested in the regions of Côte-Rôtie, Seyssuel, and Porte-de-Lyon.” These three wines, long forgotten by history, would find new life when three winemakers—Yves Cuilleron, Pierre Gaillard, and François Villard—launched the Vins de Vienne. They reinvented the production of Seyssuel’s first wines. Sotanum was the first red, released in 1998. Taburnum was the first white, released in 2000. The second red, Heluicum, was released in 2004.
