Kloster Eberbach represents more than 850 years of winemaking tradition. The historic monastery's monks recognized early on that the climatic conditions of the Rheingau region were ideal for producing exceptional wines from locally grown grapes. A document dating back to 1390 confirms early vineyard ownership in “Marckinborn” (now "Marcobrunn"), making it one of the oldest monastic vineyards. By 1726, the site had become synonymous with the finest wines of the Rheingau. The south-facing vineyard has slopes with gradients of up to 25%. Its deep, clay-rich marl soils are characterized by a high limestone content. This Grosses Gewächs opens with a distinctive, characterful bouquet of saffron, Williams pear, honey and caramel, giving the Riesling an almost dry Auslese-like character. On the palate, the Marcobrunn is elegant and persistent, with yellow fruit aromas and a pleasantly tart finish. Estate bottled and shipped by Kloster Eberbach.
