2015 Domaine Castagnier

Global profile of the wine: - Nose: A complex bouquet blending exuberant aromas of ripe dark and red fruits (black cherry, blackberry, cassis) complemented by floral touches of violet and sweet spices (cinnamon, pepper). The élevage brings notes of toast and well-kept wood. - Palate: Structured, rich, with impressive length. It offers the silky texture characteristic of the Charmes terroir, counterbalanced by a firm tannic framework inherited from the hot 2015 vintage. - Peak and aging: A wine built for 15 to 20 years of cellaring. In 2026, it has just entered its ideal maturity phase, where the fruit begins to fade slightly in favor of notes of undergrowth and truffle. - Parker points: no score - Fill level: Cork - Condition of label: Excellent - Condition of capsule: Excellent - 750 ml - Bottled at the estate - Ready to drink or to age further - Shipping method: La Poste (Colissimo, etc…) - Wine-Searcher (Overall average score): 92/100 (calculated from all aggregated reviews). - Allen Meadows (Burghound): 91-93/100 (Rating typically attributed during élevage for this domaine’s cuvée profile). The famous Burgundy expert often describes Jérôme Castagnier’s 2015 style as ripe, powerful and oak-driven with precision. - Vivino (Average of discerning amateurs): 4.2/5. Comments highlight a “punchy” wine, denser and darker than the average fine Pinot Noir, with a pronounced tannic structure that needs time to fully come together.
