91/100 Gilbert & Gaillard 91/100 Bettane+Desseauve 100% malbec, aromas of ripe dark fruits, notes of leather and tobacco, hint of vanilla. Full-bodied and voluptuous, with big, round tannins, medium acidity and a long finish. Aged for 18 months in 1000 litre French oak foudres. Bottled at the domaine. Drinking well now (carafe before serving) and will cellar through 2032. Established in 2006 by Martial Guippe, and run by young, dynamic winemaker, Thibault Vial, this 35-hectare domaine is in the village of Roques, an area historically known as one of the first planted vineyards after the Roman conquest 2000 years ago. The domaine includes some exceptional parcels where analysis of soil revealed quality comparable to soil in Romanee Conti. Thibault's wine are praised for their refined yet powerful character.
