Ornellaia is produced on the estate of the same name in Bolgheri, on the Tuscan coast. The wine is a classic Bordeaux blend, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, supplemented with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The individual grape varieties and plots are vinified separately, and the wine undergoes a long maturation in French oak barriques. The 2019 vintage is particularly successful: intense and layered, with aromas of dark ripe fruit, black currant, blackberry and cherry, complemented by cedarwood, tobacco, spices, cocoa and a fine mineral note. On the palate, powerful and concentrated, yet refined, with ripe tannins, freshness and a very long finish. A wine that is already impressive, but also possesses excellent aging potential and will develop further in the coming years.
