Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spatlese Dr Loosen 2020 Dr. Loosen Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese is a white wine from the Moselle with a fascinating profile, produced exclusively from Riesling grapes harvested in late yield. This German expression is distinguished by a full and complex body, balanced by a pronounced freshness and evident mineral character. On the palate it is rich and succulent, characterized by an enveloping texture that anticipates a sharp and crisp finish. The bouquet elegantly blends notes of white peach, green apple and mandarin, enriched by hints of dried ginger. Its natural sweetness makes it ideal paired with aged cheeses like Époisses, shellfish, or dishes such as Tarte Tatin, proving perfect even for those following a vegan diet. This steep plot is characterized by stony and shallow soils, mainly composed of Devonian blue slate rich in minerals. This terroir fosters natural nourishment of the vine and stores solar heat, pushing the plants to develop deep roots. These terroir conditions give the wine an unmistakable crisp and mineral profile, ensuring vibrant acidity and great longevity. The site is historically considered a vineyard of very high quality, capable of highlighting the aromatic ripeness of the grapes while respecting the local microclimate. After the late harvest, the must fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts inside oak barrels, preserving the varietal character of Riesling and the territorial nuances. The aging continues for twelve months on the lees, with no batonage intervention. This delicate cellar work gives the wine notable structure and guarantees an elegant flavor persistence, culminating in a pure and vibrant finish with clear notes of sage, honey and tarragon. Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spatlese Markus Molitor 2020 Markus Molitor is one of the most influential producers in the Moselle, thanks to the vast selection and quality of Riesling he produces. The “Wehlener Sonnenuhr“ is a Pale straw-yellow Riesling Spätlese, endowed with powerful and refreshing notes of apricot, mango and citrus, enriched by subtle herbal and mineral hints. Consistent and creamy on the palate, evolving into a full and harmonious taste, supported by inexhaustible freshness and mineral character. The grapes are harvested late, followed by gentle pressing and alcoholic fermentation on their own yeasts, partly in steel containers and partly in wood.
