23pc Collection of Meiji and Taisho Period Japanese Archival Documents

A collection of Japanese archival ephemera, primarily comprising tax receipts, ledgers, and official documents dating from the late Meiji through the Taisho periods. The lot includes tax receipts featuring pre-printed grids for various revenue categories, several of which bear official validation stamps. One purple circular stamp is dated 12.11.23, representing November 23rd of Taisho 12 (1923), and includes the characters for revenue and receipt. Other documents feature vertical columns of hand-brushed calligraphy listing names and monetary values, likely representing community accounts or contributions. A printed sheet contains dense text within a black border, appearing to be an official notice or legal text. The lot also includes woodblock-printed fragments with decorative borders and landscape elements. Multiple documents bear Japanese era dates including Taisho 7 (1918) and Taisho 11 (1922).
