2pc Japanese Dainichi Nyorai Reproduction Print and Illustrated Booklet
A two piece lot of Japanese ephemera. The first item is a reproduction print on shikishi board depicting Dainichi Nyorai, also known as Mahavairocana, seated in a meditative pose. The figure is shown with hands in the Dharmachakra Mudra within a circular halo. A printed label on the reverse in Japanese identifies the work as a reproduction (fukuseiga) of a painting by Gessho Shonin from the Hamamizu-tei in Kyoto. The second item is a hand-bound booklet featuring woodblock-printed and hand-colored motifs on the cover, including a treasure bag, fan, and mallet. The cover is inscribed with hand-brushed characters beneath a red square seal. The booklet is bound with a pink silk cord in a stab-stitch style. Dimensions: 9.5"W x 4.6"H Weight: 4.6 oz.
