2pc Lenox Mayence Platter and Marseilles Jar

Lenox porcelain platter and lidded jar produced in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution. The circular, multi-lobed platter and cylindrical lidded jar are decorated with floral sprays. The platter is decorated with a central bouquet including a tulip, and features a relief-molded rococo-style scrollwork and trellis patterns with gilt lattice borders. Each piece bears a gold-tone printed backstamp with a logo of the Smithsonian Castle building encircled by SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION. The platter is marked with text reading MAYENCE PLATTER / A reproduction of a / German porcelain platter circa 1760 / from the / Smithsonian Institution's Collection / (C) Smithsonian - 1982, and a script L within a laurel wreath followed by LENOX CHINA INC. / MADE IN USA. The base of the jar bears a mark reading MARSEILLES JAR. The platter includes a black presentation box with gold-tone lettering.
