4 Luristan Bronze Garment Pins, Ornamented Heads

Near East, Iran, Luristan. This is a group of four Luristan bronze dress pins, each with long tapering shafts and a distinct ornamented head: one with a clustered, budded finial, one with a bulbous knob, and two rising through ribbed collars to globular crowns. Burial has left the metal with mottled green malachite patina, red cuprite, and earthen ochre encrustation. Pins of this type fastened woolen garments and served as personal adornment among the pastoral communities of the Zagros, and they are frequently recovered from graves and sanctuary deposits, where some may have been left as votive offerings.
