China, 19th c. 127 x 75 cm. (image), 179 x 102 cm. (total). Polychrome embroidery with couched gold threads on blue patterned silk. In the centre Buddha standing on a lotus throne, surrounded by 105 smaller Buddha manifestations. Stylised rock formations and bands of clouds suggest a landscape.
