A CONTINENTAL SILVER-GILT AND RUBY-SET VANITY CASE
early 20th Century, of rectangular form with rounded corners, the finely matted ground inset with two intersecting bands of calibre cut rubies continuing over the sides, with cabochon ruby thumbpieces and catches, the hinged cover enclosing a bevelled rectangular mirror above two hinged covers to fitted compartments, one end with a circular socket to a channel within, suspended from a cable link chain, struck 800 and with indistinct maker's mark. 9.5cm long, 6.5cm wide (excl. chain), 215 grams
