A DIVISION ONE PAINTED UNDER GLASS BUTTON

1 Large 18th C. watercolor on paper figural Swiss example. This rare example shows couple on an evening stroll, perhaps they just left the tavern shown on the previous example sold in this auction. The button is from a larger set that the consignor acquired. The figurals and designs in the set were hand painted on paper in Switzerland in the 18th century rather than France and each example in the set is a different figural. They are each set under glass and mounted in metal. Perhaps the winning bidder on this example also acquired the Bartender example so they stay together. Dimensions: SM=Less than 3/4", Medium=3/4" to 1 1/4".
