A. Lenoir

Fascinating two-volume set enriched with 105 plates from this medical specialty edition devoted to obstetrics and designed to complement theoretical teaching of the art of childbirth with abundant anatomical, clinical and iconographic documentation - This publication is set in a period when French obstetrics is experiencing significant scientific development, with growing attention to the anatomy of the female pelvis, fetal position, the mechanisms of normal and difficult labor, as well as interventions enabling the management of birth complications - The combination of a volume of text and an atlas volume expresses a particularly clear pedagogical intent: medical explanations are accompanied by representations that allow the reader, notably the physician, the student or the midwife, to visualize anatomical structures, the different fetal presentations, the positions of the infant’s body and the obstetric gestures described in the treatises - A. Lenoir, Marc Sée & S. Tarnier - Atlas complémentaire de tous les traités d'accouchements - 1865 - 2 Volumes (Atlas and text) - Victor Masson et Fils - 105 Plates.
