The female figure, in full contemplation, symbolizes calm, balance, and the strength of connecting with oneself. Her hands on her head and her gathered gaze represent the act of turning off the world’s noise to hear one’s own voice and breathing. Technically, the piece is a fusion of expressive figuration where anatomy and skin are built with bold brushstrokes to give dynamism and volume. A distinctive element is the tactile application of gold leaf on the clothing, creating a luminous, three-dimensional texture that contrasts intensely with the red and dark stripes. The composition is structured through a bold play of planes, a deeply textured neutral gray background, a rigid and definitive mid-ground in absolute blue that acts as a compositional anchor, and the human figure in the foreground. Vida AMReyes. (Granma, Cuba 1991) discovered from a very young age that drawing was not just a hobby, but a way of translating the world. In 2010, she graduated with honors from the prestigious Carlos Enrique Gómez School of Fine Arts. There she consolidated exceptional technical mastery in oil painting, acrylic, and drawing from life, foundations that would later shape her conceptual signature. Her early career years were spent amidst Cuban cultural vitality, actively participating in young artists’ salons and group exhibitions. Her work quickly began to stand out: in salons and exhibitions, earning numerous awards and mentions. Vida AMReyes. (Granma, Cuba 1991) discovered from a very young age that drawing was not merely a hobby, but a way of translating the world. In 2010, she graduated with honors from the prestigious Carlos Enrique Gómez Academy of Fine Arts. There she consolidated an exceptional technical prowess in oil painting, acrylic, and life drawing, foundations that would later shape her conceptual signature. Her early career years were spent amid Cuban cultural vibrancy, actively participating in young art salons and collective exhibitions. Her work began to stand out immediately: in salons and exhibitions earning numerous prizes and mentions. AMReyes’s work is distinguished by a visceral, imposing realism that grabs the eye at first sight. Yet her approach does not stop at mere photographic mimesis. On a rigorously worked anatomy or faces charged with deep psychographic expressiveness, the artist overlays and integrates icons, allegories, and conceptual elements: wings that seem invisible to the bearer, suspended threads, blocks of dense color, or garments laden with symbolism. For her, the human body and everyday figure are the perfect canvas to reflect on identity. This fusion between technical mastery and symbolic narrative opened the way to her international projection. Over the past decade, her works have been acquired by private collectors and galleries in: Spain: Where her conceptual language connects with European expressionism. United States: Integrated into private collections dedicated to contemporary Latin American art. Belgium and Poland: Exhibited at figurative art fairs and avant-garde galleries. Russia: Acquired by collectors fascinated by technical rigor and the realism school. Currently, AMReyes resides in Spain, a country where she has established her studio and consolidated a new creative stage. Far from quick commercial noise, she continues to develop her artistic life with patience and rigor, exploring painting as a tool for universal introspection. Her studio today is a space of constant creation, where every brushstroke continues to reveal those hidden truths and icons that we all carry inside, but that we often find hard to see.
