(A) OTTOMAN MIQUELET RIFLE WITH MOTHER OF PEARL AND BRASS DECORATIONS Swamped oxtagonal barrel with brass blade front sight, dovetailed V notch rear sight with pierced elements and woven finial, Breech with 12 deeply impressed fleur de lis in sets of three and two touchmarks, indistinct. Barrel bands and key escutcheon appear to be paktong or equivalent. Brass trigger guard and elements on stock, with rear of butt decorated with inset triangles of mother of pearl in a "stiffleaf" pattern. Iron buttplate with copper insert. Patilla style miquelete lock with incised designs and what appears to be an Arabic touchmark in center, under mainspring. CONDITION: Metal with darkness and mottling throughout, with protected areas cleaner. Stock with scattered handling marks and rubs, some scattered splice and woodfill repairs throughout but solid.
