A rare black-glazed twin-handled bowl Northern China, 13th or 14th century the robustly potted vessel of deep rounded form rising from a slightly tapered base to an upright rim, flanked by a pair of loop handles, the exterior further embellished with small applied bosses arranged in clustered groups, covered overall in a lustrous black glaze, the glaze falling irregularly above the foot to reveal the buff-coloured body 11.5cm wide x 9cm high Provenance: Collection of Wilfred Stuart Delano Barnes (1934-2024) and by family descent, collection no. 81 Stuart worked for Jardine Matheson in Hong Kong from 1962, serving for many years as Group Financial Controller and ultimately as Financial Director.
