ACO - Gunni Omann - Sideboard - Teak

BUFFET IN TEAK BY GUNNI OMANN FOR AXEL CHRISTIANSEN ODDER MØBEL (ACO) – DANISH MID-CENTURY MODERN DESIGN, 1960s DESCRIPTION Elegant vintage teak sideboard, representative of 1960s Danish design, this piece stands out for the sobriety of its lines, the quality of its finishes and the harmony of its proportions. Attributed to designer Gunni Omann (also known as Gunni O) and associated with the Danish manufacturer Axel Christiansen Odder Møbel (ACO), this piece sits within the tradition of mid-20th-century Scandinavian modern furniture. Its refined aesthetic rests on a subtle balance between functionality and elegance. The stunning grain of the teak brings warmth and character to the whole, while the tapered legs give the piece a slender, airy silhouette. The wooden handles, with organically shaped forms carefully designed, are a distinctive detail that underscores the aesthetic research of Danish design of that era. Designed to offer generous storage while preserving a clean appearance, the sideboard features sliding doors for easy access to its interior compartments, as well as central drawers. One of these compartments is equipped with a green felt insert, specially designed for cutlery storage, adding a touch of refinement to the interior layout. Through its timeless elegance, the warmth of its teak and the quality of its construction, this sideboard is a piece of furniture particularly suited to a Mid-Century Modern, Scandinavian, or contemporary interior.
