Monumental first Italian edition of the "Storia del Consolato e dell'Impero" by Adolfo (Adolphe) Thiers, published in Milan by the Borroni e Scotti typography beginning in 1845. The work represents one of the most important historical treatments of the 19th century and retraces in detail the entire Napoleonic era, from the political reforms of the Consulate to the great military campaigns of the First French Empire. Green period binding with half-leather, with titles and gilded ornaments on the spine. 2 fine-text engravings at the opening of each book. Complete work of 25 volumes in 12 volumes. Printed from 1845 to 1862. Good condition, free of writings or annotations, light foxing, rear board of the last volume chipped at the corner. Publisher: Borroni e Scotti typography. Among the plates present are portraits of Napoleon Bonaparte, Empresses Josephine and Marie-Louise, and the era’s main generals, as well as vivid representations of battles and historical events of the nineteenth century. A collection of great charm and collectible value, ideal for lovers of Napoleonic history and bibliophiles.
