Alla auktioner / Samtida Konst / Adri Q - XL - Oasis Modernista
Adri Q is a young Afro-Cuban artist born in Cuba who currently lives and works in Alicante, Spain, and who lives and works in El Campello, Alicante, whose painting arises from the encounter between illustration, geometry and a deeply contemporary sensibility. Through acrylic on canvas, she has developed a recognizable visual language, characterized by the use of intense colors, flat surfaces, geometric structures and a rich succession of graphic patterns that turn each composition into a dynamic and easily identifiable universe. Her work moves freely between figuration and abstraction. At times it begins from recognizable scenes — musicians, women, dancers, Mediterranean landscapes, animals or characters belonging to the collective imaginary — only to fragment them and rebuild them through chromatic blocks, visual rhythms and decorative elements. In other pieces, geometry takes on a greater protagonism and the figure seems to arise from the color structure itself. One of the most interesting features of her work is precisely that ability to maintain a constant identity within a very broad thematic. The Mediterranean, music, nature, literature, fantasy and everyday life coexist within the same plastic universe. Her scenes can be intimate, playful or contemplative, but almost always they retain a sense of optimism, movement and luminosity. Color does not function solely as a decorative element: it constitutes one of the main emotional drivers of her painting. Deep blues, reds, yellows, violets and turquoises combine through direct contrasts and clearly defined surfaces, generating compositions with great visual impact. In her musical works, for example, geometry seems to become rhythm; in her Mediterranean landscapes, light; and in the fantastical scenes, a door to an imaginary world. The works currently circulating on Catawiki also show a good reception within the accessible contemporary art market. Her compositions have been selected by various experts on the platform, and pieces with themes as different as jazz, Mediterranean scenes or fantastical figures maintain a perfectly recognizable visual identity. That progressive recognition is especially interesting in an artist who is still building her career. Collecting her work means approaching a young language, decoratively powerful and already sufficiently defined to distinguish itself easily: a quality particularly valuable in a contemporary landscape where developing one’s own voice is one of the greatest challenges for any emerging artist. Adri Q builds, in short, a cheerful, sophisticated and slightly magical pictorial world: a place where everyday reality can be transformed into geometry, music, fantasy and color. Please check the original photographs to verify the real condition of the work.” This acrylic on canvas work embraces mid-century modern aesthetics through an urban landscape of clean lines, marked geometry and a neo-pop contemporary approach. At the center of the composition the classic silhouette of a vintage coupe car parked in front of a rationalist-style residence stands out, framed by a stylized palm tree and mountains structured with textile and graphic patterns. The bold use of saturated colors — cobalt blue, turquoise, cream and earthy tones —, combined with dotted and wavy visual textures, conveys an atmosphere of sophistication, idyllic nostalgia and serene coastal luxury.
