Agate and Quartz from Marovato – Madagascar Jasper...

Free-form piece carved from a single block of jasper from Madagascar, worked and polished to obtain a vertical profile with a flat base. The surface shows a prevalence of yellow ochre, honey and brown tones, traversed by wavy lines and lighter areas. One of the sides presents a compact structure with irregular bands that follow different directions, while the opposite side shows whitish and gray-green areas, small circular formations and a natural cavity containing quartz. The cavity has been preserved during the work and creates a contrast with the polished surfaces. The different colorations are due to the presence of iron inclusions and compounds within the siliceous mass. The polishing makes the chromatic variations, growth lines and the small natural irregularities of the stone more visible. A decorative specimen with a simple and stable shape, suitable for display in a mineral collection or as a furnishing element.
