Title: "Cheval Cervantre" Artist: Albery Seixas da Cunha (1944-2003) Technique: Watercolor and Chinese ink on thick paper Signature: Signed Format: 78 x 56 cm Condition: Good condition. Superb colors. Albery Seixas da Cunha (1944–2003) was a Brazilian painter, engraver, and visual artist, a leading figure of sensual surrealism. Born in Belém, he trained at the National School of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro before conquering the international scene in the 1970s and 1980s, a period during which he set up studios in Paris and New York. Famous for his dreamlike feminine nudes that blend dream with anatomy, he rubbed shoulders with Salvador Dalí and became the designated portraitist of world figures such as Princess Caroline of Monaco or Elizabeth Taylor. During his European sojourn in the 1970s, Albery Seixas da Cunha had the opportunity to mingle with Salvador Dalí, a master who deeply marked his artistic approach. This pivotal encounter fueled his innate tendency toward dreamlike eroticism and surrealism.
