Alessi - David Chipperfield - Coffee maker - "Moka" - Aluminium casting

Add a contemporary architectural icon to your daily coffee ritual with this brand-new, never-used Alessi ‘Moka’ 1-cup espresso maker. Designed in 2019 by the internationally acclaimed British architect Sir David Chipperfield, this coffee maker is both a beautiful tribute to Italian history and a brilliant exercise in modern, functional industrial design. Condition: Brand new, never used, in its original box. A Tribute to Tradition and Family Heritage Chipperfield's "Moka" serves as a heartfelt homage to Italy's favorite espresso maker and its original inventor, Alfonso Bialetti—who happens to be the maternal grandfather of Alberto Alessi. The early 20th-century original revolutionized global coffee culture. Chipperfield’s assignment was to offer a highly original interpretation of this timeless icon, transforming it into a popular, simple, and familiar object for the modern era. Architectural Precision and Enhanced Functionality Chipperfield introduced an innovative, unique eleven-sided volume that feels simultaneously cutting-edge and comforting. Rather than altering the silhouette for the sake of novelty, he focused on micro-architectural details that dramatically elevate its everyday performance: 1. Pre-Heated Espresso Cups: The completely flat lid serves as a functional resting surface to warm your espresso cup during the brewing process, preserving the maximum aroma and flavor of your coffee. 2. Ergonomic One-Handed Operation: The smart position of the top knob allows you to lift the lid effortlessly with a single hand while holding the handle. 3. Visual Monolith: The designer specifically chose a sleek grey tone for the handle, seamlessly transposing the metallic hue of the cast aluminum body for absolute visual continuity. A Nod to the Golden Era: The traditional brass valve is a beautiful nod to the history of espresso making, while remaining just as reliable and high-performing as any modern stainless steel component. Lot Specifications: - Capacity: 7.00 cl (Perfect for 1 intense, high-quality espresso shot). - Pouring: Engineered precision spout that cleanly cuts through the final drop to prevent drips. - Compatibility: Suitable for gas hobs, electric plates, and glass-ceramic hobs (Please note: not directly suitable for induction hobs, but can be used on induction when paired with an induction adapter plate) The Philosophy of the Everyday Ritual As David Chipperfield famously noted during the design phase: "The moka coffee pot has established itself as a generic object, like a bottle opener, a pair of spectacles, scissors, an item of the everyday... It has assumed its rightful place not only in the kitchen but in the ritual of daily life." This pristine, unused item is the ultimate acquisition for Alessi collectors and coffee purists alike, celebrating a small but profound daily ritual without compromising on intense flavor. About Chipperfield: David Chipperfield is an English architect that meanly designed buildings (e.g. River and Rowing Museum in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire and the Museum of Modern Literature in Marbach). Chipperfield does not follow one particular style in his designs but likes to make something familiar in a different way. This also the case for ‘’Santiago’’ that has features of a classical cutlery set but just a little different.
