This Sweetheart nutcracker is a playful yet functional design, created by Jim Hannon-Tan for Alessi in 2020. Drawing inspiration from the legendary Australian crocodile named “Sweetheart,” this piece combines storytelling with practicality. The crocodile’s serrated “teeth” in its mouth and textured “scales” on its tail are ingeniously crafted to grip nuts securely, making shell-cracking both effective and effortless. The serrated structure at the front enhances its ability to tackle tough dried fruit shells with ease, embodying the crocodile’s powerful bite in a clever and artistic form. As a tribute to nature and innovative design, this Sweetheart nutcracker is not only a tool but also a conversation-starting object, perfect for anyone who appreciates a blend of functionality and charm. This nutcracker is in a new condition and never been used. Delivered with original packaging. About Jim Hannon-Tan: Jim Hannon-Tan’s style and viewpoint have been shaped by a diversity of inputs and ideas. Born in Spain, he grew up with Asian influences in multicultural Australia before moving to Europe to hone his skills in the design studios of Milan, Amsterdam and London over the course of 15 years. His creative base is now back in Australia, where he is inspired by the vast landscapes, East-West fusion, and the potential of design to humanise new technologies and advanced manufacturing.
