The 9091 Alessi kettle, designed by Richard Sapper for Alessi, in 1983, is the company's first designer kettle and a true icon of international design. The kettle is made of brass, and consists of two sound tubes that intonate a precise melody with the notes "Mi" and "Si" when the water reaches boiling, replacing the classic shrill whistle. The bulging body is made of polished 18/10 stainless steel, while the molded handle is in thermosetting black plastic.
