Alessio Mazzarulli - Don't you see that face? (n.566) - Dolls series

Artwork no.566 Dimensions: 86,00 x 100,00 (cm) I create paintings using acrylic colors and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper becomes art instead of ending up in the garbage. In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the latest pieces I have realized. "Not your doll" - "I am not your doll" is a series where I intend to represent the faces of women with features reminiscent of the most classic dolls, and the message is: "even if I look like a real doll, I am not a doll, I am your doll and you can do with me whatever you want" with all that lies behind, up to, unfortunately, the violence. *** This work is unique and original. Each work is safely packed, wrapped and protected for worldwide shipping, with an included Certificate of Authenticity. A tracking number is provided for the shipment. This piece will be shipped without a frame and without a stretcher as the work will be shipped rolled. The canvas is larger in size than the painted dimensions because the greater surface will be useful and necessary to be able to stretch the canvas on a frame. It is advised to have the work stretched and mounted by a trusted professional who can also advise on an eventual suitable frame. The images showing the work in indoor environments are for illustrative purposes only and the proportions may appear different. The actual dimensions are those indicated in the description. Different light sources can give different colors to the photos. For more photos and information, contact me! Thank you. *** IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR INTERNATIONAL BUYERS (NON-EU): Customs duties, taxes and fees are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. The amount should be between 10% and 20% of the artwork value. Born in 1974, I am self-taught. After an initial period dedicated to sculpture there was a long pause of almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I resumed with the "two dimensions" for reasons of time and space, leaving sculpture aside and dedicating myself to acrylic painting. I love painting abstract landscapes, but recently I am pushing myself to paint also faces of people, both imaginary and real. For me, painting is "freezing time" in that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are glimpses of walls also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that – over time – grow on the surface. Time that passes inexorably is the main theme of my works. Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs clearly perceivable both by touch and to the naked eye. In recent times, after several years in which my works were made from small pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden disks arranged in lines and grids repeated with mathematical rigor that, seen up close, seem to form an abstract painted work all colorful but the further you move away the more a portrait emerges from the 768 painted wooden disks. Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all my works when I reproduce female faces, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to report the fact that they are not their partner's dolls and cannot be mistreated or, worse, victims of violence. *** Below are the recent exhibitions: Solo shows: 2017 Solo exhibition / Maison des Arts - Pescara, Italy Group shows: Naarden The Art Fair / Amsterdam - Naarden, Netherlands 2026 Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam / De Kromhouthal, Gedempt Hamerkanaal 231, 1021 KP Amsterdam, Netherlands - Amsterdam, Netherlands 2025 X Edition of MumArt “Homage to Costantino Barbella” / Michetti Museum - Francavilla al Mare, Italy 2020 Andy Warhol And Friends / Art Events Mazzoleni Art Gallery - Alzano Lombardo (BG), Italy 2019 “Freedom in Visual Arts – Second Edition” / Mumi - Michetti Museum - Francavilla Al Mare (CH), Italy 2019 Internationale Art Price - Tamara De Lempicka / Milano Art Gallery - Milan, Italy 2018 Archipelago #2 / Sveva Gallery - Stockholm, Sweden 2018 Dialogue Across Generations / Castel dell'Ovo - Naples, Italy 2018 The Magical Shades of Time / Aurum Arts - Pescara, Italy 2017 In obstinate and contrary direction / Simultánea Spazi Arte - Florence, Italy 2017 World Wide Art Show – New York 2017 / 508/526 West 26th Street, Suite 315, New York, NY 10001 - New York, United States 2017 Freedom in Visual Arts / Michetti Museum - Francavilla al Mare, Italy 2016 Introspective Shades / Arte Borgo Gallery - Rome, Italy 2016 Caput Mundi Art / Palazzo Ferrajoli - Rome, Italy 2016 Art Salerno 2016 / Palazzo Fruscione - Salerno, Italy 2016 Art Rome / Flyer Art Gallery - Rome, Italy 2016 Weavings of the Artist / Merlino Bottega d'Arte Gallery - Florence, Italy 2015
