Alla auktioner / Samtida Konst / Alessio Mazzarulli - Not your doll - 44 (n.754)
ot your doll - 44 (n.754) The measurements are: - 50.00 cm x 50.00 cm x 0.30 (canvas-backed cardboard) - 52.00 cm x 52.00 cm x 6.00 cm (with white frame) Framed; ready to hang. Acrylics dissolved in epoxy resin on canvas-backed cardboard "Not your doll" - "Not my doll" is a series in which I intend to represent female faces with features that evoke the most classic dolls, and the message is: "even if I look like a real doll, I am not a doll; your doll, and you can do with me whatever you want" with all that lies behind it, up to, unfortunately, violence. This work is unique and original. Each work is securely packed, wrapped and protected for shipment worldwide, with the Certificate of Authenticity included. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. The amount should be between 10% and 20% of the artwork's value. Born in 1974, I am self-taught. After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a long hiatus lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I returned to the "two dimensions" for time and space reasons, leaving sculpture aside and dedicating myself to making acrylic paintings. I love painting abstract landscapes, but recently I have been pushing myself to paint faces of people, both imaginary and real. For me, painting is "freezing time" in that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory, and my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are glimpses of walls, also eroded by time, with moss and fungi that—over time—grow on the surface. Time, which passes inexorably, is the main theme of my works. Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I adore sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs clearly perceptible to both touch and the naked eye. Lately, after several years in which my works were created from small pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden disks arranged in lines and grids with mathematical rigor that, seen up close, seem to form a colorful abstract painting, but as you move away more a portrait figure emerges from the many painted wooden disks. Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all of my works when I reproduce female faces, precisely to give them a voice when they lack the strength or courage to report that they are not their partner's dolls and cannot be mistreated or, worse, become victims of violence.
