Alpine, demantoid aesthetic

From our selection of collectible minerals, we present a splendid group of crystals on a Demantoide (Andradite Garnet) matrix with asbestos, coming from Val Malenco, in the province of Sondrio, Lombardy. Moreover, it features numerous Demantoide crystals of an intense green color, arranged in veins along the fissures of the serpentine matrix rich in asbestos, with glossy surfaces and a pleasant color contrast between the green of the garnets and the gray‑white of the host rock, which enhances its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with characteristics that highlight its natural structure and visual impact. Demantoide is the emerald-green variety of the garnet Andradite, whose color is due to traces of chromium and, in some cases, iron within the crystal structure. The name derives from the Dutch term 'demant' (diamond), due to its high brilliance and light dispersion, comparable to that of a diamond. Val Malenco, in Lombardy, is one of the few Alpine localities noted for producing this rare garnet, here associated with serpentine rocks and the typical asbestos of the area. This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, also in the context of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, with very rare exceptions always noted in the description. The photographs are taken with professional lighting to best showcase colors and details; however, slight variations in shade may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
