Amarillo, Texas. $10 1882 Brown Back. Fr. 484. First NB. Charter #4214.

Amarillo, Texas. $10 1882 Brown Back. Fr. 484. First NB. Charter #4214. PCGS Banknote Very Fine 20. A tough note from a "common," but well-collected bank where surviving notes stand as deceptively rare prospects regardless of the type or denomination. In all, the National Bank Note Census records 93 non-institutional pieces on the First National Bank of Amarillo (Charter# 4214) with a sizable population recorded for both the Series of 1902 and Series of 1929. Yet thanks to the fact that this institution organized in 1890 meant that it issued notes under the Series of 1882 through 1910 shortly after the Aldrich-Vreeland legislation was passed in 1908. Pieces issued under the Series of 1882 are nonetheless extremely rare with just six pieces recorded including this $10 Brown Back which was issued at some point after 1903. Here signs of even circulation may be observed while clear detail and bold color remain distinct utterly overshadowing the comments applied by PCGS Banknote making this a great note for the collector who strives to build a great collection of Texas Nationals. PCGS Banknote comments "Stains, Edge Damage." Estimate: $1,500 - $2,500. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
