Ammonite - Fossilised animal - Aioloceras (Cleoniceras) sp

A stunning sliced and polished Aioloceras ammonite specimen from Madagascar, showcasing a magnificent cross-section of its inner chambers. The internal walls (sutures) are filled with rich, warm honey-and-amber calcite mineralization, contrasting beautifully with the intricate suture patterns. The shell’s coiled spiral structure is remarkably preserved, highlighting the natural geometric perfection of this ancient marine creature. Aioloceras was an extinct genus of ammonoid cephalopod that thrived during the Early Cretaceous period (Albian stage, approximately 110 to 100 million years ago). Belonging to the family Cleoniceratidae, these free-swimming marine invertebrates inhabited warm, shallow prehistoric seas. Like modern chambered nautiluses, Aioloceras used its multi-chambered shell to control buoyancy, regulating air and fluid levels as it maneuvered through the water column in search of prey. The fossil from the ArteTerra collection has been paired with a solid wood display base, custom-made to enhance its beauty and scientific value. On the front surface of the base, a laser-engraved naturalistic illustration depicts the prehistoric animal to which the specimen belongs, reconstructed in its original environment. In the bottom right corner, the "Arte Terra – Fossil Mineral Design" logo is featured as a guarantee of authenticity and artisanal craftsmanship of the product.
