Angelo Brombo (Chioggia, 1893–1962) – Market scene in Chioggia

Descriptio Oil on panel. Dimensions: 70 × 50 cm; with frame: 93 × 63 cm. This work by the Italian painter Angelo Brombo depicts a lively market scene under the arcades of Chioggia. In the foreground, a woman is shown working with her baskets, partially enveloped by the shadow of a large stone archway, while in the background a luminous view of the market unfolds, with groups of figures, colorful sailboats moored along the canal, and the slender bell tower silhouetted against the sky. The composition is notable for its pronounced spatial depth, the contrast between light and shadow, and a vibrant, impasto brushstroke—characteristics linked to the artist’s Venetian Post-Impressionist style. This lot is in an international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required.
