Anonymous. Plea for Sir Marc-Antoine Rétaux de Villette. Paris Simon & Nyon 1786. First Edition. Very rare historical legal document drafted for the defense of Louis-Marc-Antoine Rétaux de Villette in the context of the famous Queen's Necklace Affair. The document presents the defensive arguments of the former gendarme who forged the signature of Queen Marie Antoinette on the purchase contracts of the exceedingly precious diamond necklace, against the other famous co-defendants in this trial, including the mysterious adventurer Cagliostro. Unbound but neatly sewn. Printer's mark on the title page. Dimensions 25x19 cm, total pages 18. Excellent condition.
