An antique French Louis XV kingwood parquetry tall case clock, the dial signed Gille Martinot, Paris. A bold ormolu foliate and shell cartouche crest surmounting the shaped bonnet, fitted with a convex-glazed circular brass dial bearing individual enamel Roman numeral cartouches and Arabic minute numerals, the center signed Gille Martinot / Paris in script. The serpentine-form waist case veneered in quartered kingwood parquetry with herringbone banding, applied throughout with rococo ormolu mounts at the bonnet shoulders, waist corners, and trunk door surround, the trunk door fitted with an ormolu-framed oval lenticle. The splayed plinth base with diamond parquetry inlay and a continuous ormolu base molding, raised on bracket feet.86”H x 21”W x 13”D.
